When Tim becomes a courier for the app Wallaby, he reckons he can turn his life around: get fit, earn some money, and even get laid. He’s not accounted for his own haplessness, an antique teapot collection, and a sinister conspiracy.
With not much to do during the lockdown of early 2021, I got into a phase of watching smutty '70s sex comedies, the likes of Confessions of a Window Cleaner. These are great, I thought, but they need to be more gay.
And so I wrote the feature film script Secrets of a Wallaby Boy, which would become my first feature film as a writer-director.
When the lockdown was over, I brought Pete Tomkies on board as a producer, and we determined to get this film made. We filmed in May and June 2022, and the team Pete and I had put together did an incredible job.
Secrets of a Wallaby Boy stars Brandon McCaffrey as Tim Coaster and Billie Hindle as Jade, alongside Mark Benton (Anna and the Apocalypse), Laurence R. Harvey (The Human Centipede 2 & 3), and the voice of Colin Baker (Doctor Who).
It is touring film festivals across 2023 and 2024 – keep an eye on the social media accounts of my production company, Weird Rainbow Films, for updates on this. Wider distribution will follow.
