Right, then. That's another term over and I have five weeks off.

So, five weeks of putting my feet up? Partly. It's been a busy term and I plan to enjoy some well-earned rest, but I'm not the type to do absolutely nothing productive. Not without getting worried about it.

Maybe I'll start on my essays, or practise my German, or read some books. Or go to France. Only for a little bit. And I need to start looking for work experience.

My department put on a "Finding Work Experience" lecture recently, so I'm thinking I should spend some time this Easter contacting TV and film companies about doing some running for them over the summer. Because you can't beat running. I am, however, increasingly leaning towards writing, primarily for TV and film, as the career I want to pursue after my degree, so I should probably do some of that too.

And, to this end, my comedy writing partner Dan and I have been working on a sitcom script for the BBC Laugh Track competition. It should be in the judges' hands right now. And they should be laughing at it. Right now. I won't put the whole script up here just yet, as I'm not sure what the rules regarding publishing it are (I did read the Terms and Conditions, but, you know). Nevertheless, here's a teaser:

ANDY
(increasingly nervous)
Hello. I’m Jeff!

ALEX
He just called you Andy.

ANDY
Yeah, well, Jeff’s my middle name.
It’s middle name Wednesday. Like
Soccer Sunday or Follow Friday. It
alliterates.

ALEX
No, it doesn’t.

ANDY
Mittelnamen Mittwoch!

GREG
Why don’t you come in? I’ll put the
kettle on.

Oh, and another clue: Greg and Andy are (somewhat tangentially) based on two of the characters from the sketch show Dan and I wrote and produced. Speaking of which, here's the behind the scenes radio documentary produced about us by Tess Humphrey. Enjoy the awkwardly staccato answers that I really should have prepared a bit more for.

Finally, regarding the Oscars predictions in my previous post - well, once again, I wasn't too wrong.

Have a hoppy Easter! Ha ha. It's a rabbit pun.
